New Year, New Blog

Well, on an impluse, I created this blog. I'm not sure how long it will last, or what I'm going to use it for.

Sad as it may seem, I'm fairly certain that my LiveJournal friends (those I know in "real life" and strictly on LJ) wouldn't make the effort to read this, because it's not as simple to do as loading their LJ friends page. I've been on LJ for about about 4 and a half years and I've had a constantly growing circle of people who read my LJ and people whose LJ's I read. For me, it's kind of a big thing to lose.

On the other hand, having a "regular" blog opens me up to even more people, though I'm not sure many new people will find my life at present very interesting at all.

Then I thought that maybe I'd use this blog for a specific purpose - a film log, cultural commentary, posting my writing. But (1) I've realized that my film reviews are no good, (2) no one is interested in my cultural commentary, so I might as well just keep posting it in my LJ and (3) I have this paranoid thing where I feel like if I post something remotely good (hey, there's a chance of it happening), that somewhere down the line I'll pick up a novel, or a book of short stories or poems, and I'll see that thing I wrote....with someone else's name on it. I have so few good ideas, I'd rather not have them stolen when I come up with them.

So, we'll see what happens.
